In this day and age, a reliable mobile network is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity. From managing work on the go to staying in touch with loved ones, uninterrupted connectivity, responsive customer support, and value-packed plans play a crucial role in the overall mobile experience. If your current network is falling short, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) offers a simple way to switch operators without giving up your existing number. With Vi, the MNP journey is designed to be smooth, transparent, and largely digital, ensuring minimal disruption to your daily routine. Understanding the process, timelines, and eligibility requirements can help you port your number with confidence and ease.
The MNP process can become extensive and time-consuming. But with Vi, the whole porting process becomes seamless. A digital representative will take care of your document verification and SIM activation process.
Once you have requested to port your mobile number, the MNP process follows a defined timeline regulated by telecom authorities. In most cases, the process is completed efficiently, provided all eligibility criteria are met. For users porting within the same Licensed Service Area (LSA), the transfer typically takes 3 working days. If you are moving your number to a different LSA or telecom circle, the process may take up to 5 working days.
Certain regions have extended timelines due to operational considerations. For subscribers in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and the North-East areas, the porting process can take up to15 working days. During this period, Vi keeps you informed with regular SMS updates at each stage of the porting journey.
It is important to note that delays or rejections can occur if specific conditions are not met. Outstanding dues, incorrect details, or an invalid Unique Porting Code (UPC) may impact the timeline. Ensuring that all requirements are fulfilled in advance helps make your transition to Vi seamless and hassle-free.
While MNP is a straightforward process, certain common issues can lead to the rejection of a porting request. One of the most frequent reasons is pending outstanding dues with your current operator. Clearing all bills before initiating the request is essential. Another common factor is insufficient subscription duration; your number must be active with the existing operator for at least 90 days.
An incorrect or expired UPC can also result in rejection. The UPC is valid for a limited period, so it is important to use it promptly and ensure it is shared accurately during SIM delivery. Additionally, porting requests may be denied if the number is involved in ongoing contractual obligations, change of ownership requests, or is restricted by a court order.
To avoid these issues, Vi recommends double-checking all details before placing your port-in request and keeping your documents ready for verification. By meeting the eligibility criteria and following the correct steps, you can ensure a smooth and successful transition to the Vi network.
When you request a sim port process (MNP), you will receive alerts about your porting status through SMS at every stage of porting. The MNP status check can also be done via the MNP service providers of your zone.
