A mobile hotspot uses your smartphone's cellular data to create a connection that can be used to connect other devices to the internet. While a WiFi hotspot works at a fixed location, the mobile hotspot works on the go. The mobile hotspot uses 4G LTE wireless technology and acts as a wireless access point to provide internet access to nearby devices such as phones, laptops, tablets, etc.
Vi MiFi:
Vi MiFi devices are Portable WiFi routers that create a personal hotspot to connect multiple devices to high-speed internet. The compact MiFi routers facilitate connecting up to 10 WiFi-enabled devices. These pocket/travel-friendly routers access the cellular internet and convert 4G signals to WiFi, creating a hotspot for nearby devices to access the internet.
Here is how to create a personal hotspot with Vi MiFi:
Once you have a MiFi device, you will need a Vi postpaid SIM card with an active postpaid plan and follow the steps below to create a personal hotspot:
- Insert your SIM card in the MiFi router and turn it on
- Search for available WiFi network on your device
- Click on the Vi MiFi network and join
- The username & password is set to "admin" by default
- After connecting Vi MiFi router to your device for the first time, login to the URL: http://192.168.1.1
- Login using the default credentials and go to WiFi settings
- View and manage your account or change/update your MiFi password here
Link your MiFi device to the Vi App to check your plan details and pay bills from the Vi App
- Sign in to your MiFi device portal using a web browser
- On the Vi App, click on Add profile
- Enter the mobile number of your MiFi device and OTP sent to MiFi portal
- You are all set! Your MiFi device is now linked to the Vi App
