As many Indian students and tourists visit the USA yearly for studies, vacations, or business, staying connected with loved ones back home is a priority. Using an Indian SIM card in USA with an international roaming pack offers a convenient way to maintain communication without the hassle of changing your phone number.
Vi’s International Roaming Plans
If you are a Vi user, you can benefit from activating Vi international roaming plans and use your Indian SIM card in USA. These are specially designed for international travellers. Purchase a Vi international roaming plan before your trip to the USA to enjoy unlimited calls (incoming & outgoing) or reduced call rates, and bulk or unlimited data for seamless connectivity.
With a few precautions and smart usage strategies, you can enjoy seamless connectivity and manage costs effectively during your travels. This guide will help you understand how to use an Indian SIM card in USA to stay connected with family and friends.
- Purchase Vi International Roaming Plan: Head to the Vi international roaming plans page to purchase an international roaming plan for your trip to the USA.
- Activate International Roaming: Once you buy a Vi International Roaming pack, you do not need to activate the International Roaming service separately. Simply select a suitable roaming plan, and international roaming will be activated on your SIM card before your travel.
- Buy International Roaming once you reach: If you forgot to activate international roaming before your travels, you can purchase an International Roaming Pack after reaching the USA, through the Vi App or IR Pack page by connecting to a local Wi-Fi.
- Adjust Phone Settings: If your phone doesn't automatically connect to a compatible network, go to your phone's settings and select the network manually. Disable automatic App updates and background data usage to conserve data.
- Utilise Roaming Plan: Vi’s roaming plans include incoming/outgoing calls & data (based on the plan selected), making it easier to stay connected without worrying about high roaming charges.
By activating a Vi roaming plan, you can travel with peace of mind, knowing that you are covered for calls, texts, or data usage abroad.
