Business Challenge
Developing connected cars entails capturing and analysing telemetry, diagnostics, and driver behaviour data to revolutionise the driving experience, ensure drivers' safety, better navigation, and infotainment throughout the journey. However, the client faced hurdles hindering innovation and customer satisfaction.
Network latching issues and disruptions: Smart vehicles rely heavily on robust network connectivity. Disruptions in network latching led to intermittent loss of intelligence, resulting in subpar driving experiences.
Identifying root problems: Despite exhaustive assessments, pinpointing the exact issue within the network proved challenging.
We decided to test the connected car console in Vi C-DOT IoT Lab to find and address the root cause of the problem.
Our Solution
Vi C-DOT IoT Lab provides a platform to test a wide range of IoT devices, modules, SIMs, applications and more. The lab is a joint initiative between Vi and C-DOT and is India’s first-of-its-kind lab for device testing and certification.
Leveraging our cutting-edge platform, the client conducted comprehensive testing to diagnose and address the underlying issues:
Rigorous testing: Real-world network simulations were performed to scrutinise every aspect of the device and eliminate uncertainties.
Drive tests: Lab experts, in collaboration with the auto OEM, conducted extensive network and functional testing across various scenarios, indoors and outdoors, to assess performance under different conditions. Multiple drive tests scenarios were simulated, and logs were analysed which provided us with valuable insights into how the device performs under various network conditions.
This helped us determine the root cause of the challenges faced by drivers while driving the vehicle.
Business Impact
After analysing test logs, experts identified that the device struggled to interpret network signalling parameters, leading to latching issues. A comprehensive report highlighting the challenges and their impact on driving experiences was shared with the client, recommending collaboration with the device OEM to rectify observed bugs. The client implemented our recommendations and found an overall improvement in customer satisfaction and driving experience, affirming the effectiveness of Vi C-DOT IoT Lab's solutions.
