A public-funded initiative by the State Government aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity to the citizens and the Government departments
A nodal body providing connectivity is enabling this initiative for the State Government. It acts as a centralized network operations centre (NOC) with 375 points of presence (PoPs) and a vast network spanning 30,000 Km of fibre routes. It connects over 30,000 government institutions and delivers fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity to 14,000 households also.
The objective is to help the Government achieve the mission and reduce the digital divide by providing all citizens and institutions with internet access.
Business Challenge
- As part of their philosophy of treating the internet as a fundamental citizen right, this nodal body wanted to build a robust core network infrastructure that was widely accessible as well as deeply functional. - They also wanted to provide a reliable, secure, and scalable intranet to all government offices, educational institutions, hospitals and free internet access to economically challenged households. - They planned to provide 20 Gbps bandwidth and scale it up to 100 Gbps as they developed their vision. - However, delivering high-speed connectivity at such a scale was a challenge. - The existing provider could not meet their quality and scalability expectations.

This has since been upgraded to 50 Gbps.
